Public School Choice Data FY 2013-14

The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) requires a local educational agency (LEA) to provide an opportunity for all students enrolled in a school that is in year one of Needs Improvement the opportunity to enroll in a school not designated for Needs Improvement. Taylor County does not have a school eligible to participate in the public school choice provision of NCLB. Therefore, Taylor County High Schools sent letters requesting agreements to surrounding counties to transfer eligible students. The surrounding school districts were not able to honor our requests for Public School Choice.

Title 1 Schools Designation Parent Notification

Parent notifications for each school and the district have been communicated via Infinite Campus (IC), our student information system . The information below is only an excerpt for your information about our schools' performance. Ms. Inga Wonnum, TCSD Family Engagement Coordinator, will be working closely with all schools to build capacity and engagement district wide.

The Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) of 1965 requires that parents or guardians who have children attending a Title I school be notified of how well their school is preparing its students for college and/ or a career, as well as the school’s designation status under Georgia’s ESEA Flexibility Waiver.

Under the 2015 renewal of Georgia’s ESEA Flexibility Waiver, certain Title I schools continue to be designated as Reward, Priority, or Focus Schools.  The Waiver allows the use of the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) as the comprehensive report card for all schools in Georgia, providing a score between 0-100 for each school—measuring how well the school is doing in preparing its students to be successful in college and/or a career.

CCRPI 2015:

TCHS-68.6

TCMS-65.6
